Role Type: Contractor (Part Time)

micro1 is engaging Tax Advising Experts to contribute to a customer's project focused on tax preparation and advisory services. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters.

Scope of Work

  1. Prepare and review personal (Form 1040) and small business (Schedule C, S-Corp 1120-S, Partnership 1065) income tax returns to ensure accuracy and compliance with current tax laws.
  2. Advise on tax optimization strategies and clarify complex tax concepts in clear written and verbal communication for clients.
  3. Assess and critique AI-generated tax advice or content against provided rubrics, delivering concise written feedback to drive model improvement.
  4. Verify documentation and support clients with questions regarding tax filing status, deadlines, and required forms.
  5. Contribute to the development and refinement of evaluation rubrics and grading criteria for tax-related outputs.
  6. Stay up to date with changes in federal and state tax codes relevant to client cases and project deliverables.

Required Qualifications

  1. Active CPA license in good standing, with eligibility to practice in the United States.
  2. Extensive experience in preparing and filing both personal and small business tax returns.
  3. Proficiency in current federal tax regulations and at least one state's income tax requirements.
  4. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to translate technical tax topics for diverse audiences.
  5. 5+ years of professional tax preparation/advisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Familiarity with AI model evaluation, red-teaming, or providing feedback on machine-generated outputs (e.g., RLHF), though not required.
  2. Demonstrated ability in drafting rubrics, assessment guidelines, or scoring criteria for complex subject matter.
  3. Experience working with professional tax software such as ProSeries, Lacerte, or Drake is a plus.
