1. Role Overview
Mercor is partnering with a leading AI research organization to engage an experienced investment professional.
You will take primary ownership of private-company valuation work, support broader portfolio analysis, and translate complex financial analysis into clear, decision-ready presentation materials.
2. Key Responsibilities

Lead the valuation of a private company using appropriate financial and market-based methodologies.

Build, review, and refine detailed Excel valuation models.

Analyze company performance, financial projections, capital structure, comparable companies, and relevant transaction data.

Assess key assumptions, sensitivities, valuation ranges, and investment risks.

Review investment policy documentation and identify relevant gaps, inconsistencies, or areas for improvement.

Support broader portfolio analysis across public and private investments.

Conduct market-data research and maintain a clear record of sources and assumptions.

Convert analytical findings into concise, senior-level presentation materials.

Prepare simplified trade and investment documentation as required.

Ensure that financial models, conclusions, and presentation outputs are internally consistent and decision-ready.

Incorporate structured feedback from senior reviewers and iterate quickly on the work.
3. Ideal Qualifications
-
Approximately 5–7 years of professional experience in Investment Banking, Private Equity, a Family Office, or investment management.

Strong experience with private-company valuation, financial modeling, investment analysis, and transaction-related work.

Advanced proficiency in Excel and the ability to build robust, auditable financial models.

Experience preparing investment committee materials, board presentations, transaction presentations, or comparable senior-level deliverables.

Strong understanding of valuation methodologies, including comparable-company analysis, precedent transactions, and discounted cash-flow analysis.

Comfortable working with market-data exports, financial statements, portfolio information, and imperfect datasets.

Experience analyzing investment policies or institutional portfolio guidelines is beneficial.

An MBA, specialized finance master's degree, or CFA qualification is preferred but not required.

Exceptionally strong written communication and attention to detail.

Comfortable having analytical judgments reviewed and calibrated against those of other experienced investment professionals.

Prior experience with AI evaluation, financial assessments, or human-data projects is a plus.
