Description

In this hourly, remote contractor role, you will work as a Korean QA Expert reviewing OCR-processed Korean-language PDF documents and ensuring that annotations meet project quality standards. You will review document layouts, revise/add/classify bounding boxes, validate table structures, check reading order, and ensure Korean text is accurately captured and correctly interpreted.

You will also provide clear feedback to annotators on Korean-language correctness, OCR transcription issues, layout errors, entity classification mistakes, and guideline adherence. This role requires strong Korean language expertise, excellent attention to detail, comfort with complex document annotation workflows, and the ability to consistently apply detailed QA guidelines across large volumes of work.

This role is with SME Careers, a fast-growing AI Data Services company and subsidiary of SuperAnnotate, delivering training data for many of the world’s largest AI companies and foundation-model labs. Your Korean QA expertise will directly support high-quality OCR and document understanding datasets by ensuring Korean-language documents are accurately structured, annotated, and ready for model training.

Responsibilities

  • Work through a daily queue of annotated Korean PDF documents assigned for QA review.
  • Check that all document fields have been captured with correctly placed bounding boxes.
  • Verify that Korean content is accurately transcribed and presented in the correct reading order.
  • Review and correct OCR-generated pre-annotations, flagging subtle character-level errors in Korean text.
  • Validate entity classifications, including tables, charts, text blocks, key-value pairs, headers, footers, and other structured document elements.
  • Review table structures for correct boundaries, row/column alignment, merged cells, headers, and logical hierarchy.
  • Correct annotation errors directly when appropriate or return them to annotators with clear, actionable notes.
  • Provide feedback to annotators on Korean usage correctness, OCR transcription quality, layout interpretation, and guideline adherence.
  • Escalate recurring error patterns, unclear edge cases, or guideline ambiguities to project leads.
  • Participate in regular team syncs to align on edge cases, annotation standards, and quality expectations.
  • Confirm all reviewed documents meet the required quality bar before approving them for submission.

Requirements

  • Korean language: Native or fluent proficiency in Korean, with strong ability to review Korean text for accuracy, character-level correctness, spacing, grammar, and usage.
  • English proficiency: Strong professional English proficiency, C1/C2 level, to understand detailed project guidelines, participate in team communication, and provide clear written feedback.
  • QA or annotation experience: Prior experience in QA, data annotation, document review, content review, OCR validation, or a closely related role.
  • OCR and document parsing: Hands-on familiarity with OCR systems, document parsing workflows, PDF annotation, or structured document review.
  • Bounding box review: Ability to verify, revise, add, and classify bounding boxes around text fields, tables, charts, key-value pairs, and other document elements.
  • Korean text review: Ability to identify and interpret subtle OCR errors in Korean writing, including incorrect characters, spacing issues, line breaks, reading-order issues, and mistranscribed text.
  • Table and layout understanding: Ability to review dense or complex document layouts, table structures, merged cells, headers, footers, multi-column text, and hierarchical document sections.
  • Attention to detail: Exceptional attention to detail, particularly when reviewing dense Korean document layouts and character-level OCR output.
  • Ability to follow complex guidelines: Proven ability to absorb, retain, and consistently apply detailed, multi-step guidelines across large volumes of work.
  • Self-review and accuracy mindset: Strong quality-first mindset, with the discipline to thoroughly self-review all work before sign-off, including AI-generated or OCR-generated outputs that may appear plausible but contain subtle errors.
  • Clear communication: Ability to provide concise, actionable feedback to annotators when work needs correction.
  • Consistency: Ability to make repeatable QA decisions across similar cases and escalate ambiguous edge cases when needed.
  • Reliability: Self-directed and comfortable working in an hourly, remote contractor workflow across time zones.
